Reach Chicago Trainers are committed to raising up Godly leaders who will plant churches and support church planting efforts. 

The residency provides prospective church planters the opportunity to learn how to plant a new church from experienced pastors and leaders. The leaders of our churches have experience in church planting, preaching, leadership development and spiritual formation.

Cabot Ashwill

Cabot is the Senior Pastor of LifeSpring Community Church in Spring Grove, Illinois and is president of Reach Chicago. Cabot grew up in California where he met and married his wife Asia. They have four adventurous children who were willing to accept God’s call along with their parents to move from California to Spring Grove in order to plant LifeSpring Community Church, a church plant from Lakeland Church in Gurnee Illinois. Prior to planting LifeSpring, Cabot has acted as the Director of International Ministry for Touch Global, a leader for several years at Bible study Fellowship and President of Antique Trove. He holds a B.S. from Pepperdine University and a Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. One things that Cabot would want you to know: Life is an adventure and Jesus is the greatest treasure you will ever find. Life’s greatest joy is being found in Him!

Todd Berge

Todd serves as the Senior Pastor of the Bridge Church. He married Jeanne, his high school sweetheart in 1986, and together they have four adult children Amanda, Daniel, Rachel and Emma. Jeanne works as a Registered Nurse at Good Shepherd Hospital. Todd committed his life to Jesus Christ at the age of fourteen and soon began serving in the church. After marriage he worked in construction and he and Jeanne volunteered together in youth ministry at the Village Church of Barrington. In 2008, Todd responded to the Lord’s call on his life and began preparations to leave construction and go into ministry full time. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute in 2011 and is presently working toward a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University. In the fall of 2013 he left construction and focused on starting the Bridge Church. Todd is grateful to serve the community of Algonquin and the Bridge Church as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Adam Fix

Adam has a passion for preaching God’s Word and seeing people come to know the joy of life with Jesus. Nothing excites Him more than pursuing the glory of God. He is originally from Minnesota, but received his Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary in Colorado. Adam enjoys reading, sports, movies and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Holly, have two daughters.

Adam Gascho

Adam is a missionary with Greater Europe Mission and the Director of Church Planter Development for Reach Chicago. Along with his wife Bethel and their three children, Adam served in Germany for 16 years, engaging in church planting, disciple multiplication, leadership development.  Adam has also served as GEM’s Mobilization Director. The Gascho’s now reside in Barrington, IL, where they also lead in the areas of youth and children’s ministry at the Village Church of Barrington and are engaged in evangelism, church planting and leader development across Chicagoland. Adam loves hanging out with his family and friends, playing and watching pretty much any sport (especially soccer), board games, travel and the nations. Adam has his undergraduate (BA in Political Science and Secondary Education) and graduate (MA in Theological Studies) from Wheaton College.

Brett Gleason

Brett serves as the Director of Church Multiplication for the EFCA’s Great Lakes District. He is has given his life’s work to the purpose of multiplying transformational churches among all people and is passionate about working alongside church planters. It is the number one desire of his heart that everyone would hear the Gospel shared with them in love and compassion so that they would have an opportunity to respond to the Gospel in faith. As well, Brett is a disciple-maker in his family (wife Stephanie and four energetic sons) and community (serving as a Cub Scout leader and coach to various teams including baseball, basketball and flag-football). Brett has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Iowa, a Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and is currently pursuing a Dr. of Ministry at Trinity as well. 

David Jones

David has ministry experience in a variety of contexts. After lecturing overseas at a Bible college in Kenya. He served as the associate editor of The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Crossway, 2001). He also was one of the pastors at Harvest Bible Chapel, where he founded a training center for church planting. Since 2010, David has been the senior pastor of the Village Church of Barrington. A graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, he is currently finishing a doctorate at Phoenix Seminary. He combines a passion for the in-depth study of Scripture with a shepherd’s heart. David and his wife, Helen, have three grown sons. The Jones family gives glory to God for his calling and provision.

Jason Lancaster

Jason is the Lead Pastor of Evanston Bible Fellowship and an Area District Superintendent/Church Planting Catalyst in Chicagoland. He has led the planting of four churches out of Evanston Bible Fellowship next to college campus. Jason grew up in Dallas. He attended Arkansas Tech University and Dallas Theological Seminary, and he received his Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Prior to becoming the lead pastor of Evanston Bible Fellowship in 2004, he was the senior pastor of a church in Santa Monica, California. Jason is married to Melissa, and they have six children.    

Steve Mathewson

Steve Mathewson is the Senior Pastor at Cross Life Evangelical Free Church in Libertyville, Illinois. Steve started in his position on May 7, 2006. Steve came to Libertyville from Belgrade, Montana, where he was the senior pastor of Dry Creek Bible Church. He received a Master of Arts Degree in Old Testament in 1986 from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in Portland, Ore. Most recently, he received his Doctor of Ministry in 2000 from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Mass., where he studied preaching under Dr. Haddon Robinson. He and his wife, Priscilla, have four adult children and grandchildren.

Matt Solie

I moved to Chicago as an undergraduate student in 2005 to attend North Park University, and I graduated with a B.S. in Finance in 2009. After working in finance for two years, I was called into training for vocational ministry. I received a Masters in Theological Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2014. In 2012, I met my wonderful wife, Lauren, and we have been married for three years. Lauren is an academic librarian at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. Our ministry is marked by a shared love for Chicago, cultivated over the years we have worked, played, studied, and served in this city. We share a passion for seeing Christ’s kingdom advanced in the city of Chicago, and we believe the best way to accomplish God's mission is through planting new, life-giving churches in the local context.
